I was living in Florida and witnessed the recount of the Presidential election in 2000 first hand. Needless to say nobody was happy neither the Republicans nor the Democrats. So that being said I know that I am going to make some folks unhappy, embarrassed and/or confused and for that I sincerely and deeply apologize. I would rather tell the truth and get it right than to try act like a mistake never happened, because it did. So everyone here is what happened and I hope you all will understand. I'm human and I made a mistake and for that I'm very sorry. As a first year owner, I am certainly learning about racing under fire, but I vow to make fewer mistakes in the future.
Early last Sunday morning, after the races were over from Saturday night, I stayed at the track very late so I could get the seasons results off the track computer. I wanted to be able to let everyone know who won the track divisional championships. There were several close divisional and competitors were very curious. I took the results home and calculated all divisions and came up with the winners. The results from the track computer's information showed me that Robert Gant had won the Super Late Model Division. Well, just about that time, I got a phone call from Steve Hixson (who does the press releases for the track). I told him "It looks like Robert Gant won the Super Late Model Division, but I wanted to recheck the results." I told Steve that I would send him the results as soon as I rechecked them, never dreaming that he would post my first impression. However, much to my surprise Steve rushed, as he is prone to do, to meet publication deadlines and posted on the internet that Robert had won. Once I found out Steve had posted that on the internet I went to my home computer, since I was not at the track, to print out the season results. I was now attempting to re-verify the results as I had intended on doing before it was ever published. I should have used the track documentation instead of my computer printout to recheck the official results and had I done that none of this would have happened. Again the track computer was right all along, as it originally showed Robert the winner which he ultimately and rightfully is.
Now here is how the problem occurred from my home computer. I download the races every night when I get home from the track onto my personal computer. Sometimes this is in the early hours of the Sunday morning, so the fans can get the results as soon as possible. It is obvious now, that I failed to post the August 4th Super Late Model division race. Yet I had posted all the other divisions that night. Don't ask me why I missed that division, as I just don't know. In that race T.J. Alford got 150 points for his 11th place finish and Robert Gant got 250 points for his first place finish. The tracks on site computer and the results on it and SpeednetDirect have always been and still are correct. Well in my haste to do what I thought was right and with the error in my home computer's posting the results, it now showed me that T.J. had won the Super Late Model championship (because of that 100 point difference that Robert Gant had not gotten). So in order to correct what I thought was a problem, I immediately notified Steve to repost the new results, with the correction that T.J. Alford was the Super Late Model point champion.
Now today Tuesday, October 2nd, Steve Hixson and I decided that we should check further as to the confusion, since he had doubled checked SpeednetDirect through our website and it was showing Robert as the winner. I then rechecked my home computer and found the NON posted August 4th Super Late Model race and 100 point error. Again let me assure everyone that none of the other races in the other classes were affected, just the Super Late Model class. However the 100 point difference did indeed make Robert Gant the Green Valley Speedway 2007 Super Late Model Track Champion.
Once again anybody can go to SpeednetDirect and verify our full information themselves on a weekly or daily basis. That is the beauty of our full disclosure policy and why nobody should ever question us using transponders and posting everything to the internet for full viewing. At Green Valley Speedway a driver or a fan can see his or her times, laps, and results in full detail. Nobody can go on line and get that kind of information about any other dirt track within many miles of Green Valley Speedway. We are proud to be open and honest with our fans and drivers and pride ourselves on such.
Again, I deeply regret any inconvenience that this has caused the Alford family, crew, fans and/or associates. I know I can never make you understand how truly sorry I am, I only can try. I won't make excuses for this it is my fault and I accept the blame.
Sincerely Yours,
