Glencoe, AL (9/1/07) - The Best Race of the Season... is what the racefans at the new Green Valley Speedway are talking about after Saturday night's, American Sprint Car Series feature where Brad Bowden of Hernando, Mississippi captured his career first win as the Rebel Region invaded the XL 4/10th's mile sweeping clay oval in Gadsden/Glencoe, Alabama. Piloting the black # 15 "Hyundai Welding Products, SJM, OH Hendricks Sheet Metal" sponsored, Reed Motorsports, Maxim, Fox powered the youngster battled exclusively A.S.C.S. divisional points leader T.J. Winegardner during the 25 lap "A" Main feature, with the duo swapping the lead between about six times before the first and only caution appeared at the halfway point.

After winning both his heat race and the 5 lap THOMAS ENTERPRISE TRUCKING Pole Dash, Bowden and Pierson, Florida's Winegardner took the thirteen car field to the green flag with Bowden jumping out front. Winegardner stuck to Bowden as backmarker traffic came into effect, allowing the # 11 "Sticks Pest Control, Advanced Technologies Lubricant" sponsored J&J, WRP powered sprinter the pass for the lead. Bowden came roaring back underneath and the battle ensued back and forth as the two came together in a heated exchange. Bowden and Winegardner's contact resulted in a slow loss of tire pressure on Winegarner's machine, which sent the racer to the rear after a quick left rear tire change in the infield.

After the yellow for Todd Fayard's machine, Bowden fended off the challenge of Shane Morgan's #01 "Slippery Nick's Bar & Griill, Valspar Racing" sponsored J&J chassised Klein powered sprinter for the restart and was unchallenged the rest of the way. In victory lane helmet and gear still on, the ecstatic victor climbed up on the wing and ran thru the infield in celebration to his crew and family. "This is fantastic!!!" Bowden commented after returning to victory lane. "Those Gulf Region guys were expecting a cake walk here at Green Valley tonight, not a butt-whippin' like we just handed em'..." Bowden referred to GVS as a Devil's Bowl Speedway (Texas) type facility, "WIDE-OPEN all the way around..." as he concluded his winner interview. Morgan was second with Tennesseeian Dewayne (DANNY) Prince in third. Brian Thomas and Tyler Godwin rounded out the top five with Winegardner rebounding to a sixth place finish.

In other racing action: the THE SANDMAN Brian Smith (# 115) of Sand Rock, AL topped the Limited Late Models for the second week in a row. The FASTRAK Crate Late Model feature saw Tony Kemp survive a crash with back-marker traffic to hold off last weeks winner Clay Grogan.
