GLENCOE, AL (9/29/07) -- Last week it was T.J. Alford getting his sixth victory of the 2007 season, this week the FLAT ROCK FLASH Robert Gant did the same, taking win # 6 at the new Green Valley Speedway in Gadsden/Glencoe, AL. By virtue of percentages the Flat Rock, AL, racer narrowly defeated Alford for the 2007 GVS Track Championship. Starting third on the grid after GROUP QUALIFYING with the AMB Transponder Systems locked in the field, Gant inherited the pole position when Alford jumped the initial start of the 25 lap REBEL CHALLENGE Super Late Model feature Saturday night. Holding off BIGG BADD Bo Shirley for the win worth $1,200. The red/yellow # 22 "Carl Gregory Ford, Studio 306, Whites Logging" sponsored MasterSbilt chassis, Gant engines, Ford Taurus racer will pocket an additional $2,000. in Points Money at the banquet later this season. Taking home third after the penalty was Alford who was glued to Shirley's spoiler. Tom Maddox piloting Clay Grogan's new MasterSbilt SLM raced home to finish fourth with Steven Endicott rounding out the top five finishers.
In other racing action: the SAND-MAN Brian Smith (# 15) of Sand Rock, AL brought home the FASTRAK Crate Late Model victory. In the Limited Late Model division Brian Qualls (# 007Q) of Piedmont, AL, won over double-duty racer Steven Endicott. David Beam (# 7E) of Lerly, GA, won the Super Street feature, Jim Hunter (# H4) of Southside, AL won the Hobby feature and Robert Combs (# 55) of Aragon, GA again won the Cruiser feature, for this the second week in a row. In the Pony features: Josh Battles (# 11J) of Attalla, AL, won also for the second week in a row, the Modified Pony feature, while Mike Blevins (# 13) of Armuchee, GA, won the Pure Pony feature. This coming Friday & Saturday nights, October 5th & 6th, GVS gets it on with the $50,000 Race #1 of the FASTRAK GRAND NATIONALS CHAMPIONSHIP and TRIPLE THREAT races in the Super Street, Hobby, Pony's (Mod. & Pure) and Cruisers classes.
