by Steve Hixson
(5/24/07) -- The O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series (USCS) "Outlaw Thunder" Tour rolls thru NorthEast Alabama (Gadsden near I-59) in just three days as a part of a HUGE Memorial Day Weekend of racing around the country. The seven race series over nine days has in it a guarantee of prize money
of nearly $100,000. with each night's feature race pays at least $2,000., to win. With additional posted awards and bonuses one driver could win over $20,000 in prize money during the week of speed. A prize of $2,100. is guaranteed to those drivers who enter all seven events and then qualify for and start all seven A-Main events.
The 2007 O'Reilly USCS Speed Week kicks off on Friday night May 25th in Missouri stopping in Arkansas on Saturday, May 26th. Then the tour heads back South and East to the newly remodeled state of the art dirt track facility, the Green Valley Speedway on Sunday night, May 27th for Round #3. The 90' foot wide, 4/10 mile clay oval in Glencoe, Alabama (near Gadsden) is no stranger to USCS Sprint Car racing, but only a handful of Outlaw Sprint Car racers have been to the "NEW" and reconfigured GVS track. Mississippi's
Wade Oliver beat USCS regular, young T.J. Winegardner of Florida back in late March at Green Valley Speedway's first look at the outlaw type WINGED SPRINT CARS.
Besides Oliver, West Memphis, Arkansas racer Marshall Skinner is expected to return to GVS during the USCS "Outlaw Thunder" Speed Week series. Skinner already has a victory in 2007 in Alabama, coming down South way, back in April and is looking to put the # 26 " C&B Mushrooms" sponsored Dynotech powered, J&J Chassis sprinter back in victory lane once again. Let's not forget the ORIGINAL OUTLAW, Terry Gray of Bartlett, Tennessee in his black # 10 "Rislone Lubricants, Wendy's, Goodson Farms" sponsored, Wesmar powered Maxim chassis sprint car. Gray captured his second O'Reilly Auto Parts USCS feature, just last weekend in South Georgia. Marion Jacobs of Tuscumbia and Chris Hill of Wedowee will likely lead the charge to keep prize money in SWEET HOME ALABAMA, kinda defending the home-turf.
Along with the O'Reilly USCS Sprint Cars Sunday seven (7) local racing divisions (NOT the REBEL Super Late Models) will be in competiton. These divisions are highlighted with two classes of Late Model type divisions, the Limited Late Model ($700 to Win) feature and the FASTRAK Crate Late Models paying $650 to Win. The Super Street, Hobby Stocks, Pure & Modified Pony's classes and the Cruisers are all in competition. The NEW Green Valley Speedway located off of I-59 Interstate (second Gadsden exit) at 1509 GREEN VALLEY ROAD in, GLENCOE, AL near Southside and is accessable from both Highway's 77 and 431 in Gadsden. The track's phone number is (256) 492-8550 and the website is www.greenvalleyspeedway.com/. For more info. on the
