WINGED WARLORDS O'USCS SPRINT CARS INVADE GREEN VALLEY SPEEDWAY DOUBLE-J WINS

Story and Photo's by: Steve Hixson

Glencoe, AL (5/27/07) -- An excited crowd rushing to the smell of methanol and sounds of BOOM DADDY's FIREWORKS witnessed the O'Reilly Auto Parts: United Sprint Car Series invade Glencoe, Alabama's GREEN VALLEY SPEEDWAY, Sunday night. The 2006 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame 360 Driver of the Year, "DOUBLE J" Jason Johnson from Eunice, Louisiana won the 30 lap "Sunday Night Shootout" that's is round three of the nine day, seven race $100,000 SPEED WEEK tour. Johnson who led the Nation last season in winged 360 sprint car wins with 24 victories picked up his sixth win of the 2007 season in his "The Shop Motorsports, Pope Refrigerated Transportation, Custom Equipment Designs, Inc., King Racing" sponsored Eagle chassis, Wesmar Engines by chasing down early race leader Don Young from Bartlett, TN just before the race's halfway point.

"This place is like a lil' Lowe's Dirt Track and so we used what we learned from there," stated the winner from the front stretch victory lane. "We were expecting it to dry up more, based on a friend of mine who raced here earlier this season, but it didn't do it as much as we anticipated." Johnson concluded by acknowledging his family, friend, crew and sponsors before posing for photo's for the attending media's. Johnson was inverted by the K&N Filters Pole Award to the fourth starting spot along side Butlerbuilt Heat #2 winner Lee Sowell from Nesbit, MS. The front row was made up of Engler Machine and Tool #1 runner-up Young and Derek I CAN'T DRIVE 55 Hagar from Marion, AR.

After a enthusiastic FOUR WIDE SALUTE to the fans, the "A" Main/Feature started with Young out dueling Hagar quickly and began stretching his lead over the field. On lap five JJ got past Lee Sowell into the runner-up spot, just as Young caught the first back-marker of the race. Putting a lap on Georgia's, Nick Defeo, Young in his red # 75 "Pro Auto Incorporated, Patton Classic Cars, Tennison Bros. Sheet Metal" sponsored, J&J chassis, Dynotech powered sprinter attempted to stretch more of a lead. Tennessee's Shane Nelson went a lap down as did Ohio's Ryan Myers just prior to the halfway point. Johnson began to close the gap and got a good enough run on the his teenaged competitor to make the winning move off turn four. Young held on and fought back trying to take the point back for several laps before Johnson formerly known as the "Cajun Sensation" could build a comfortable margin.

The race went CLEAN AND GREEN for the entire thirty circuits with Johnson holding nearly a half a  straight-away lead on the final go-round. Young raced home in the runner-up spot followed by hard chargin' Texian (from 8th) Travis Rilat in third in the # 29 "F&J Construction, C&B Mushroom Farms, Penske Shocks" sponsored XXX Chassis, Shark Racing Engines sprint car. Current 2007 Speed Week  points leader and defending O'USCS Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, TN finished in the fourth position and the evenings Lucas Oil Power Dash winner Danny the HAMMER Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, Florida rounded out the top five finishers. Marshall Skinner headed the second five cars in sixth place followed by Sowell in seventh. Hagar who came into the night ranked second in 2007 Speed Week points, finished in eighth with Raymond Stull R.J. Johnson rounding out the top ten.

The Green Valley Speedway takes the next two weeks off for Summer Vacation and Track Maintenance, but returns June 16th with TRICKY TRAVELSTEADS "Extreme Stunt Show" and a full racing program. The next O'USCS event is the Speed week 2007 Round # 4 at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN. After two days off on Tuesday and Wednesday, the schedule picks back up at Clarksville (TN) Speedway on Thursday night, May 31st.
