GLENCOE, AL (8/26/07) -- T.J. Alford of Ball Play, Alabama pocketed his fifth REBEL CHALLENGE Super Late Model win of the 2007 season, Saturday night, at the new Green Valley Speedway in Gadsden/Glencoe, AL. The full night of racing for all eight (8) divisions saw the possible tenth (10th) different SLM winner slip-away in back-marker traffic as THE LAW-BREAKER Ryan Law relinquished the lead on lap 11 of the 25 lap "A" Main feature race. The new 3-Lap GROUP QUALIFYING with the AMB Transponder Systems clocked the field with Robert Gant of Flat Rock, AL, setting fast time with the only 14-second lap recorded. Second overall fastest qualifier Law earned the pole when the $150 Z-MAX MICRO-LUBRICANT fast-time, inversion set Gant to the fourth starting position. Unfortunately third overall FQ Steven Endicott would fail to start the feature with mechanical problems giving Gant to "go-ahead" to start the race on the outside front row, as the feature rolled to life.

Fifth starting Alford got by for third was the field (all but Gant) fired as the Green Flag unfurled from flagman Stanley Smith. Chris Beck found himself the recipient of the top chase as Alford and Gant watched Law extend an impressive early lead. Alford put his #007 "Vulcan Marketing, Renegade Racing Fuels, American Racer Tires, Stealth Racing Carburetors, Racin' Warpaint" sponsored Warrior Chassis, T.A.'s Automotive Machine, Pontiac GTO racecar in second place as the half-way point neared and quickly went after Law. Despite a 360-solo spin from Charlie Roberts the feature race went off without incident. Alford took the lead going into turn one when Law chose to go high around a slower group of racers. Gant used his GVS veteranship to work on Law, but ran short on laps and was unable to do anything with Alford as the checkers flew. Dennis Hale returned to GVS picking up a strong fourth place finish behind Law with Beck rounding out the top five.

In other racing action: the Limited Late Models was topped by THE SANDMAN Brian Smith (# 115) of Sand Rock, AL. The TOP GUN/FASTRAK Crate Late Model feature saw Tony Kemp get beaten as Clay Grogan (# 11) of Southside, AL took the 25 lap race victory. Bart Starr (# 11) of Hokes Bluff, AL, won his first Super Street feature of the season, Kyle May (# 55) of Pisgah, AL finally handed David Beam his first loss, in quiet some time, in the Hobby feature. Jack Rayburn (# 77) of Cedartown, GA won the Cruiser feature. A pair of 13's won the Pony features: Mike Blevins (# 13) Armuchee, GA, won the Pure Pony feature, beating last weeks winner Brice Lovitt, while Brian Dodgen (# 13) of Ohatchee, AL, took on all comers (including some Knoxville, TN invaders) winning the Modified Pony feature. Next Saturday night, Sept. 1st, the A.S.C.S. SPRINT CARS headline the Green Valley Speedway.
