RUSHING POCKETS $3,000 FOR “FREEDOM 40” VICTORY
Glencoe, AL (June 28, 2003) – Anthony Rushing, out of Koscisko, MS, led all Forty-laps of the “Freedom 40” Super LateModel feature, picking up the win and the $3,000 payday at Green Valley Speedway Saturday Night.
Rushing led the twenty-five starters down for the start of the race, with local favorite Robert Gant on the outside front row. Rushing wasted little time, grabbing the lead going into turn one, and holding off a late-race charge by Gant to pick up the win.
Gant dove underneath Rushing with two laps remaining, but could not get around Rushing, who held on for the win.
Gant finished second with Mark Sartain third. Fourth position went to Danny Peoples with Stacy Holmes rounding out the top five.
TJ Alford, the current point leader at GVS, continued his strong performances this season, starting seventeenth and finishing sixth.
Rushing led the twenty-five Super LateModels with quick time honors, touring the 3/8-mile facility in 15.683 seconds for an average speed of 86.080 MPH.
